Celebration Worship Service, May 24th, 2026

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • The prelude with be “Morning Has Broken”, an improvisation on
  • Katie will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Next, Deborah Brooks will lead us in the Call to Celebration (PC(USA) Call to Worship Journal, adapted)
  • the opening hymn will be “Morning Has Broken”,
  • next Deborah will lead the Prayer of Forgiveness (PC(USA) Call to Worship Journal, adapted)
  • Time with Children is next
  • Invitations will be presented
  • The Ruling Elders will perform “Put a Little Love in Your Heart”, with help from their backup singers
  • Deborah will then read from scripture: Genesis 11:1-9 and Acts 2:1-12
  • Katie will deliver a sermon
  • the Hymn of Response is “Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness”
  • Prayers of the People are next,
  • followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory will be: “Everyday Life”; Ruling Elders
  • the closing hymn will be “We Are One in the Spirit”,
  • we will recite the Charge together
  • Katie will offer a benediction
  • followed by a postlude from the Ruling Elders: “Peace, Love, and Understanding”


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
