In celebration this week:
- The prelude with be “Morning Has Broken”, an improvisation on
- Katie will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Next, Deborah Brooks will lead us in the Call to Celebration (PC(USA) Call to Worship Journal, adapted)
- the opening hymn will be “Morning Has Broken”,
- next Deborah will lead the Prayer of Forgiveness (PC(USA) Call to Worship Journal, adapted)
- Time with Children is next
- Invitations will be presented
- The Ruling Elders will perform “Put a Little Love in Your Heart”, with help from their backup singers
- Deborah will then read from scripture: Genesis 11:1-9 and Acts 2:1-12
- Katie will deliver a sermon
- the Hymn of Response is “Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness”
- Prayers of the People are next,
- followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory will be: “Everyday Life”; Ruling Elders
- the closing hymn will be “We Are One in the Spirit”,
- we will recite the Charge together
- Katie will offer a benediction
- followed by a postlude from the Ruling Elders: “Peace, Love, and Understanding”
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
