Celebration Worship Service, May 17th, 2026

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • The prelude with be “Welcome to God’s Love”
  • Everyone will be welcomed to Celebration
  • Next, please join in the Call to Celebration
  • the opening hymn will be “O Jesus, I Have Promised”, 
  • next the Confirmands will be invited to join (processing from the back to the front of the sanctuary)
  • we will then sing “The Summons”
  • Rev Denman will invite the Confirmands to join as followers of Jesus
  • we will recite together the creed written by the Confirmands and, following that, the pastors will bless them and query them
  • Each Confirmand will give their unique lesson
  • Their class leaders will respond to their lessons
  • Family and mentors will lay hands on the Confirmands and pray for and bless them
  • followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory will be: “Lord, Here Am I”, words by Fanny J. Crosby; music by Jay Althouse; performed by the combined MPC and St John’s Choirs
  • next we will celebrate communion together
  • the closing hymn will be “Let the Whole Creation Cry”, 
  • we will recite the Charge together
  • followed by a postlude, “Postlude on Salzburg”, by Robert J. Powell


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
