In celebration this week:
- Leslie Louie, clarinet, and Kim Rankin, piano, will play a prelude, “Song Without Words, Op. 19b, No. 1” by Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847)
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Mike Griffith will lead the Call to Celebration, (from World Council of Churches, adapted)
- the opening hymn will be “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”,
- next Mike will lead us in the Prayer of Peace and Reconciliation, (World Council of Churches, adapted)
- Claire Kelly will lead us in a celebration of May birthdays
- then invitations
- Time with Children follows, Anna Capuchino will be baptised
- then Kim and Leslie will perform “Song Without Words, Op.67 No. 1”, by Felix Mendelssohn
- Mike will read from Ruth 1:1-18
- then Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon,
- the Hymn of Response will be “Lord, When I Came into This Life”,
- then the Confirmation of Mira Thompson and Anna Capuchino will take place
- followed by passing the offering plates;
- next we will celebrate communion together,
- the closing hymn will be “God of Grace and God of Glory”,
- we will recite the Charge together
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude, “Toccata on Cwm Rhondda”, by James Biery
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
