In celebration this week:
- Marcus Schneider will play a prelude, “Fugue in G Major” by Dietrich Buxetehude
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Mary Ellen McKey will lead the Call to Celebration, (Church of Scotland, adapted)
- the opening hymn will be “All Who Hunger Gather Gladly”,
- next Mary Ellen will lead us in the Blessing of Reconciliation and Peace, (Church of Scotland, adapted)
- Time with Children follows,
- then invitations
- then an ensemble of the MPC Choir will perform “Now the Green Blade Rises” traditional French, arr. Alan Bullard
- Mary Ellen will read from Luke 24:13-35
- then Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon,
- the Hymn of Response will be “I’m Gonna Eat at the Welcome Table”,
- Prayers of the People are next,
- followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory will be “Variation on Noel Nouvelet”, Guy Miaille
- the closing hymn will be “Blest Be the Tie That Binds”,
- we will recite the Charge together
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude, “Prelude No. 11 in F major, BWV 856” (Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1), J. S. Bach
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
