Celebration Worship Service, April 12th, 2026

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • Marcus Schneider will play a prelude, “Variation #8 on Puer Nobis Nascitur” by Christa Rakich (b. 1952)
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Cynthia Blumgart will lead the Call to Celebration, (Rev. Thom Shuman, adapted)
  • the opening hymn will be “That Easter Day with Joy was Bright”,
  • next Cynthia will lead us in the Prayer of Confession, (Rev. Thom Shuman, adapted)
  • then we will celebrate April birthdays with Claire Kelly leading
  • Time with Children follows,
  • then invitations
  • then the MPC Choir will perform “Hosanna” by Soweto Gospel Choir, with Kim Rankin directing
  • Cynthia will read from John 20:19-31
  • then Katie will offer a sermon,
  • the Hymn of Response will be “The Risen Christ”,
  • Prayers of the People are next,
  • followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory will be “Variation on Puer Nobis Nascitur: by Michael Praetorius (1571 – 1621)
  • the closing hymn will be “Christ is Risen! Shout Hosanna!”,
  • we will recite the Charge together
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude, “Symphony No. 9, 4th Movement (“Ode to Joy”) – excerpt” by Ludwig van Beethoven


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
