In celebration this week:
- Barrelhouse Jazz Band will play a prelude, a medley of old favorites
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Martha Smith will lead the Call to Celebration
- the opening hymn will be “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today”,
- next Martha will lead us in the Prayer for Peace
- Time with Children follows,
- then the MPC Choir will perform “Can He, Could He, Would He, Did He?” by John Chisum and Dwight Liles, with Kim Rankin directing
- Martha will read from Matthew 28:1-10
- then Rev. Ben Daniel will offer an Easter sermon,
- the Hymn of Response will be “The Day of Resurrection!”,
- followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory will be “Pennies from Heaven” and “All of Me”
- next we will celebrate communion together, as “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” is played
- the closing hymn will be “I’m Gonna Sing When the Spirit Says Sing”,
- we will recite the Charge together
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude, “When the Saints Go Marching In” played by Barrelhouse
- and a recessional, “Joe Avery’s Blues” also played by Barrelhouse
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
