Celebration Worship Service, April 5th, 2026

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • Barrelhouse Jazz Band will play a prelude, a medley of old favorites
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration 
  • Martha Smith will lead the Call to Celebration
  • the opening hymn will be “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today”, 
  • next Martha will lead us in the Prayer for Peace
  • Time with Children follows, 
  • then the MPC Choir will perform “Can He, Could He, Would He, Did He?” by John Chisum and Dwight Liles, with Kim Rankin directing
  • Martha will read from Matthew 28:1-10
  • then Rev. Ben Daniel will offer an Easter sermon, 
  • the Hymn of Response will be “The Day of Resurrection!”,
  • followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory will be “Pennies from Heaven” and “All of Me”
  • next we will celebrate communion together, as “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” is played
  • the closing hymn will be “I’m Gonna Sing When the Spirit Says Sing”, 
  • we will recite the Charge together
  • there will be a benediction 
  • followed by a postlude, “When the Saints Go Marching In” played by Barrelhouse
  • and a recessional, “Joe Avery’s Blues” also played by Barrelhouse


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
