From the Pastor’s Pen

Friends,

This week, instead of writing out my contribution to Contact, I have reverted to COVID practice and I have made a video. My hope is that this video will provide information about and generate excitement for the trip to Spain I hope to lead in Spring of 2022. Here is a link to the video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iI15kmdZ7c

If you want to skip straight to the information without watching the video, here are the main points:

  • The trip will happen from March 28 to April 2, 2022.
  • While in Spain we will visit Granada and Cordoba,
  • The cost is not yet set in stone—it depends upon exchange rates and upon how many people participate—but I expect it to be around $1500 per person and a little less if you share a room with a friend or loved one.
  • Our in-Spain leaders will be my friends Daniel Muñoz and Guy Wynter. Daniel is a professor of Church history at Madrid’s Protestant seminary. He’s also an Anglican priest who currently is moonlighting as a Presbyterian minister. Guy works in high tech and also handles the business side of hosting groups like ours in Spain.
  • We’ll be learning about the Convivencia, a period of almost 800 years when Muslims, Christians, and Jews lived together in relative peace and goodwill under Islamic rule.
  • Also, Andalusia is amazing. You really have to see it for yourself.

I’ve made this video so that I can share it beyond our church community, but I’ve also made it as a way of exploring the use of videos for communication within our church community. Give it a watch and let me know what you think—about going to Spain but also about the use of videos like this as a form of communication.

God’s Peace (or perhaps I should say, La Paz de Dios),

Ben
