In celebration this week:
- Marcus Schneider will play a prelude, Prelude on Abbots Leigh, by Gregory Hamilton (1959 – )
- Rev. Ben Daniel will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Next, Bonnie Hamlin will lead us in the Call to Celebration (from Ghana, adapted)
- the opening hymn will be “Come, Great God of all the Ages”
- next Bonnie will lead the Prayer for Peace (from St. Augustine of Hippo)
- Time with Children is next led by Rev. Ben Daniel
- Invitations will be presented
- The Special Music will be “Fugue No. 15 in G Major” (from “Well-Tempered Clavier” Book I BWV 860, J. S. Bach), Marcus on the harpsichord
- Bonnie will read from scripture: Matthew 16:13-20
- Ben will offer a sermon,
- next we will sing the Hymn of Response, “The Church’s One Foundation”
- then Prayers of the People will be offered
- followed by passing the offering plates, offertory: Divisions on Aurelia, by Marcus Schneider
- the closing hymn will be “Lord of All Hopefulness”,
- we will recite the Charge together
- a benediction will be offered
- followed by a postlude, Slants on Slane, by Marcus Schneider
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
