In celebration this week:
- Sally Cole-White and Kim Rankin will offer a prelude, Pièce romantique, Op. 75 No. 1 by Antonín Dvorak (1841-1904)
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Next, Jerry White will lead us in the Call to Celebration (using “Hallowed” by Martin Wroe)
- the opening hymn will be “All Praise to Thee, My God, This Night”,
- next Jerry will lead the Prayer for Peace
- Time with Children is next led by Rev. Ben Daniel
- Invitations will be presented
- The Special Music will be “Be Thou My Vision/My Shepherd Will Supply My Need” traditional Irish and Southern Harmony tunes, arr. Brant Adams
- Jerry will read from scripture: Luke 10:25-37
- Lynn Viale will offer a sermon, “The Good Samaritan: Radical Hospitality”
- next we will sing the Hymn of Response, “Who Is My Neighbor?”
- then Prayers of the People will be offered
- followed by passing the offering plates, offertory “Deep River”, a traditional spiritual
- the closing hymn will be “Abide With Me”,
- we will recite the Charge together
- a benediction will be offered
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
