In celebration this week:

  • Marcus Schneider has written and will play a prelude, Fantasia on “We Are One in the Spirit”
  • Katie will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Next, Dave Hendricks will lead us in the Call to Celebration (from “On Traveling to Beautiful Places” by Mary Oliver)
  • the opening hymn will be “They’ll Know We are Christians”,
  • next Dave will lead the Prayer for Peace (excerpted from a prayer by Bishop Eugene Robinson)
  • Time with Children is next
  • Invitations will be presented
  • The MPC Choir will perform “All God’s Critters Got a Place in the Choir”, by Bill Staines
  • Dave will read from scripture: Proverbs 16:16-19 and Matthew 5:3-10
  • We will sing Hymn #100, “My Soul Cries Out”
  • Keith will read from the new testament, Luke 1:46-53
  • Rev. Dr. Keith Geckeler will deliver a sermon, “Homonyms for Hominins”
  • then we will share Prayers of the People
  • followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory will be: “Fugue in Bb” by Johann Ludwig Krebs (attr.)
  • the closing hymn will be “Help Us Accept Each Other”,
  • we will recite the Charge together
  • a benediction will be offered
  • followed by a postlude “Prelude in Bb Major” by Johann Ludwig Krebs (attr.)


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
