Celebration Worship Service, September 10th

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • Kim and guest musician Scott Thompson will play a prelude, “Allegro” from Sonata in E Minor by Antonio Vivaldi
  • Katie will welcome everyone to Celebration.
  • Doug Brookes will lead us in the Call to Celebration, (adapted from A Prayer on Trans Day of visibility, by M J Kaiser)
  • The opening hymn will be “Come! Live in the Light!”.
  • Next, Doug will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (by Rev. Mak Kneebone, adapted),
  • then we will have a Time With Children.
  • Invitations are next.
  • We will hear from Kim and Scott again with a piece entitled “Kol Nidrei”, from Op.47 (1880) by Max Bruch (1838-1920)
  • Then Doug will read aloud the scripture reading from Romans 13:8-14
  • Next, Katie will share a sermon,
  • The Hymn of Response is “Help Us Accept Each Other”,
  • There will be a pastoral prayer next, then
  • The offering plates will be passed while Kim and Scott play “Sicilana” from Sonata in E Minor by Antonio Vivaldi
  • The closing hymn will be “I’m Gonna Live So God Can Use Me”.
  • We will recite the Charge,
  • Katie will offer a benediction
  • followed by a postlude from Kim and Scott “Allegro molto” from Sonata in E Minor by Antonio Vivaldi

The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
