PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. In celebration this week:
- Barrelhouse Jazz Band will play a prelude, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”,
- Katie will welcome everyone to Celebration.
- Deborah Brooks will lead us in the Call to Celebration, (by Rev. Katherine Hawker, adapted)
- The opening hymn will be “Shall We Gather at the River”.
- Next, Deborah will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (by Rev. Michael Neuroth).
- Debbie Fallehy will lead the September birthday celebration,
- then we will have a Time With Children.
- Invitations are next.
- Than Deborah will read aloud the scripture reading from Jeremiah 15:15-21
- Next, Rev Riana Shaw Robinson will share a sermon,
- The Hymn of Response is “Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness”,
- The offering plates will be passed next, while Barrelhouse Jazz Band plays an offertory, “Amazing Grace”..
- Next we will celebrate communion, while Barrelhouse plays “Just a Closer Walk With Thee”
- The closing hymn will be “Down by the Riverside”.
- We will recite the Charge,
- Katie will offer a benediction
- followed by a postlude from Barrelhouse, “Saints Go Marching In”.
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
