FROM THIS WEEK’S GUEST WRITER, Suzanne Jones

It’s been three long years since Covid prevented our MPC family from gathering on the magnificent shores of South Lake Tahoe for camaraderie, campfires, songs, good food, games, and spiritual growth.

But now with great joy we are preparing to resume this cherished 40-year tradition! And now is the time to sign up!

To entice you to take the plunge–whether you’re a first-time participant or you’ve been many times before–we’ve created an uplifting, silly and faintly psychedelic video about the MPC@Tahoe experience to inspire you. CLICK HERE to watch the video! (For best picture quality, watch it in high definition! Click here to find out how.)

MPC@Tahoe is a marvelous MPC tradition: some of us attended as children and look forward to it every summer, while others who came later say it was the experience that sealed their connection to the MPC community.

This year’s activities begin Friday evening, 6/10, and conclude Wednesday morning, 6/15. Participants may sign up to attend only the weekend, the entire session, or any portion that works for you!

Our speaker this year is Rev. Talitha, who will lead an adult program based on her new book: In Deep Waters: Spiritual Care for Young People in a Climate Crisis. (Click here for a description of the book.) This beautifully written, profoundly relevant work offers much-needed support to people of all ages as together we find our way through the new challenges of a changing climate. And it’s most definitely for all of us, not just those with children in their midst: the feelings Talitha explores will resonate with anyone concerned about the climate crisis.

Children may attend their own fun and creative separate program led by Rev. Ben, simultaneous to the adult program. Both programs begin Saturday afternoon, June 11, so folks driving up Saturday morning won’t miss out.

And we couldn’t ask for a more covid-safe event, as essentially all the varied activities are outdoors: under the pines, around the campfire, at picnic tables and campsites, at the beach or on the trail!

Accommodations are quickly filling up, so please don’t delay! To attend you need to:

  1. Reserve your cabin, campsite, or lodge room by calling Camp Richardson at: 800-544-1801 and mentioning MPC, and
  2. Let us know you’re coming: CLICK HERE to register and find all the info you need. (And click here to email Rob Elia with any questions).

If you’re interested in sharing a campsite or cabin, let us know and we’ll connect you with others doing the same. Scholarships are also available!

We welcome you with all our hearts, and hope you’ll join us.
