Celebration Worship Service, October 31st

In Celebration this week:

  • The Ruling Elders will provide a prelude, “People Get Ready”, by Curtis Mayfield, arr. Eva Cassidy
  • Talitha will welcome folks to Celebration, and
  • Mary Ellen McKey will lead us in a Call to Celebration (adapted from Renewing the Church. Geneva: World Alliance of Reformed Churches, 2006 )
  • The opening hymn is, “This Little Light of Mine”,
  • Mary Ellen will lead us in a prayer for peace (adapted from Renewing the Church. Geneva: World Alliance of Reformed Churches, 2006),
  • then the children will be dismissed to Godly Play.
  • Mary Ellen will read Ruth 1:1-18,
  • Ben will preach a sermon, “Conversations and Conversions”.       
  • The Ruling Elders will provide a musical response, “Everyday Life” by Coldplay        
  • Talitha will lead us in a pastoral prayer,
  • Offering,
  • then Invitations will be offered.
  • The closing musical offering is Imagine” by John Lennon, and then
  • Mary Ellen will lead us in the Charge and Talitha will offer a benediction.
  • Marcia will provide a postlude, “Toccata in D minor” by Johann Sebastian Bach

The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
