Celebration Worship Service, August 1st

In Celebration this week:

  • Kim will provide a prelude, “Impromptu in G” Op. 90 No. 3, by Franz Schubert,
  • I (Rev Ben Daniel) will welcome folks to Celebration, and
  • Doug Brookes will lead us in a Call to Celebration (this prayer is based on a prayer by St. Augustine of Hippo),
  • The opening hymn is, “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”,
  • I will lead us in a prayer for peace, this prayer is adapted from a prayer of the Galla people of Ethiopia, 
  • Debbie Fallehy will lead us in a celebration of August birthdays,
  • then Doug will read Ephesians 4:1-16.
  • I will preach a sermon, “The Call of Love”,                                                            
  • Offering,
  • We will join together to offer farewells and blessings to the Siegenthaler family,
  • then Kim will lead us in singing “One Bread, One Body” while we celebrate communion.
  • The closing hymn is “You Will Go Out With Joy”, and
  • Doug will lead us in the Charge and I will offer a benediction.
  • Marcia will provide a postlude, “Gigue En Rondeau” by Jean-Philippe Rameau

The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
