In celebration this week:
- Jennifer Ashworth, Stacey Helley, and Kim Rankin will offer a prelude, “When the First Star Lights” by Becky Reardon
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Next, Stephen Warren will lead us in the Call to Celebration (Rev. Thom Shuman, adapted)
- the opening hymn will be “Now on Land and Sea Descending”,
- next Stephen will lead the Prayer for Peace
- Time with Children is next
- Invitations will be presented
- The Special Music will be “Lift Thine Eyes” from Elijah, by Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847), performed Jennifer, Stacey and Kim
- Stephen will read from scripture: 1 Kings 19:9-18
- Katie will offer a sermon
- next we will sing the Hymn of Response, “My Life Flows On”
- followed by passing the offering plates
- the closing hymn will be “Will You Come and Follow Me?”,
- we will recite the Charge together
- a benediction will be offered
- followed by a postlude, “Farewell Blessing” Traditional Irish blessing, music by Erin Craig and Matthew McGuigan
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
