In celebration this week:
- Kim Rankin will play a prelude, Prelude on “Dix”
- Katie will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Next, Pat Schwinn will lead us in the Call to Celebration (by Rev. Joanna Harader, Mennonite Church USA)
- the opening hymn will be “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”,
- next Pat will lead the Prayer for Peace (by Rev. John van de Laar, Methodist Church of Southern Africa, adapted)
- Time with Children is next
- Invitations will be presented
- Special music will be offered by Anna Capuchino on the cello, “Allegro from Sonata in C Major”, by Jean-Baptiste Breval (1753-1823)
- Pat will read from scripture: Genesis 18:1-15 and 21:1-7
- Katie will deliver a sermon
- the Hymn of Response will be “Make a Joyful Noise to God!”
- followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory will be: “Alman” by Thomas Morley (1557-1602)
- the closing hymn will be “You Shall Go Out With Joy”,
- we will recite the Charge together
- a benediction will be offered
- followed by a postlude “Joyful, Joyful” from “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” by Ludwig van Beethoven, arr. Mervyn Warren
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
