Celebration Worship Service, March 15th, 2026

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • There will be a prelude from the MPC Choir, “Now I Walk in Beauty”, a traditional Navajo (Dine) prayer; music by Gregg Smith; Kim Rankin directing
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Shelley Kelly will lead the Call to Celebration, (Call to Worship Journal, PCUSA)
  • the opening hymn will be “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah”,
  • next Shelley will lead us in the Prayer of Confession (Call to Worship Journal, PCUSA)
  • Time with Children follows,
  • Invitations are next
  • the MPC Choir will perform “O, the Winter Soon Be Over”, Bahamian spiritual, arr. Peter Amidon, Kim Rankin directing
  • next Shelley will read from John 9: 1-41
  • then Katie will offer a sermon,
  • the Hymn of Response will be “Come To Me, O Weary Traveler”,
  • Prayers of the People are next
  • followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory will be “What Wonderous Love is This”, a traditional shape-note hymn, arr. Heather Sorenson
  • the closing hymn will be “The Glory of These Forty Days”,
  • we will recite the Charge together
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by Postlude on “The Glory of these Forty Days” by Matthew McConnell; Kim Rankin on organ


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
