In celebration this week:
- Marcia Roy will present a prelude, verses from “Te Deum”, Anonymous, 15th C. Paris
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration,
- then Eloise Gilland will lead us in a Call to Celebration (adapted from a prayer by George Appleton)
- The opening hymn will be “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”.
- Next, Eloise will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (from A Procession of Prayers, John Carden, ed., adapted)
- followed by a Time with Children. (Children will then be dismissed to Godly Play and Echo the Story)
- Invitations will be presented next,
- Then the MPC Choir will perform “Ubi Caritas” by John Michael Trotta
- Eloise will read from Mark 9:2-9
- Rev. Ben will deliver a sermon entitled, “Il Bellissimo Cappuccino”,
- Then we will sing the hymn of response, “‘Lord, the Light of Your Love is Shining”,
- Followed by a Pastoral Prayer
- Next, the offering plates will be passed while an offertory is played.
- The closing hymn will be “Longing for Light, We Wait in Darkness”,
- We will recite the Charge together,
- There will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude from Marcia, “Here Comes the Light”, from Rhapsody in Bluegrass by Joseph Martin
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
