In celebration this week:
- Marcia Roy will present a prelude, Prelude on the hymn tune “Richmond”, setting by Healey Willan
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration,
- Then Janet Mulshine will lead us in a Call to Celebration (from New Zealand)
- The opening hymn will be “Today We All Are Called to be Disciples of the Lord”.
- Next, Janet will lead us in a Prayer of Confession (adapted from a prayer by David Adam), and Assurance of Pardon (inspired by a prayer from New Zealand)
- Followed by a Time with Children. (Children will then be dismissed to Godly Play and Echo the Story)
- Invitations will be presented next,
- Then the MPC Choir will perform “If You Love Me”, words based on John 14:15, 27; music by Joel Raney, Kim Rankin directing
- Janet will read from Mark 8:27-38
- Rev. Ben will deliver a sermon, “Trouble”
- Then we will sing the hymn of response, “Take Up Your Cross, the Savior Said”,
- The Pastoral Prayer is next,
- Then, the offering plates will be passed while an offertory is played by Kim
- The closing hymn will be “Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ”,
- We will recite the Charge together,
- There will be a benediction
- Followed by a postlude from Marcia
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
