Celebration Worship Service, November 12th

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • The prelude will be “Simple Gifts”, a Shaker spiritual, arr M.E. Thompson, played by the Handchime ensemble, directed by Kim Rankin
  • Rev. Ben Daniel will welcome everyone to Celebration,
  • Jean Gregory will lead us in the Call to Celebration, (a Celtic prayer from Iona).
  • The opening hymn will be “Awake My Soul, and with the Sun”.
  • Next, Jean will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (from Iona),
  • Followed by a Time with Children.
  • Invitations are next,
  • Followed by a special music presentation: ““Adoro te Devote”, a Gregorian chant, arr. M.E. Thompson
  • Then Jean will read aloud the scripture reading from Matthew 25:1-13
  • Next, Ben will share a sermon, “People Get Ready”,.
  • The song of response will be “Rejoice! Rejoice, Believers”,
  • The offering plates will be passed while Gail Onion and Kim play a duet on Native flutes
  • The closing hymn will be “Will You Come and Follow Me”.
  • We will recite the Charge together,
  • There will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
