In celebration this week:
- Kim Rankin will play a prelude,
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration,
- then Gretchen Garlinghouse will read a Land Acknowledgement
- Sari Kulberg will lead us in the Call to Celebration (adapted from “What Are People For?” by Wendell Berry)
- The opening song will be “We Belong to the Earth” by Magpie.
- Next, Sari will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (adapted from “Prayer for Future Beings” by Joanna Macy),
- then we will have a Time with Children.
- Invitations are next.
- Next is Special Music: Kim will perform “Workin’ on a World” by Iris DeMent,
- Then Sari will read aloud the scripture readings from Hebrews 11:1-3 and James 2:14-17.
- Next, Suzanne Jones will share a sermon, “Faith in the Age of Climate Change”.
- The song of response will be “I Am Willing”,
- The offering plates will be passed while Gail Onion plays an offertory on the native flute,
- Next comes a time for prayers of the people.
- The closing hymn will be “Swimming to the Other Side” by Pat Humphries,
- We will recite the Charge together,
- Katie will offer a benediction
- followed by a postlude from Kim
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
