Celebration Worship Service, November 28th

In celebration this week:

  • Kim Rankin will play the prelude, “Watchman, Tell Us of the Night”, arr. by Mark Hayes,  
  • As we prepare to light the Advent Wreath, we will sing the processional song, “While We Are Waiting, Come”.
  • Next is the responsive reading as the advent wreath is lit.
  • The opening hymn is, “On Jordan’s Bank the Baptist’s Cry”,
  • Stephen Warren will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (adapted from a Democratic Republic of the Congo prayer, published by the World Council of Churches],
  • The children will be dismissed to Godly Play.
  • Stephen will lead us in the scripture reading, Luke 1:57-80   
  • Ben will offer a sermon, “Get Ready”,
  • Then the MPC Choir will present, “Now the Heavens Start to Whisper”, and
  • Talitha will share a Pastoral Prayer.
  • Offering,
  • Invitations.
  • The closing hymn is “Creator of the Stars of Night” and then
  • Stephen will lead us in the Charge and Ben will offer a benediction.
  • Marcia will offer the postlude, “Comfort, Comfort Ye My People”, arr. D. N. Johnson,
  • Ushers will dismiss the congregation row by row.

The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
