Celebration Worship Service, September 5th

In Celebration this week:

  • Kim will provide a prelude
  • Rev Ben will welcome folks to Celebration, and
  • Maggie Harmon will lead us in a Call to Celebration, from Iona
  • The opening hymn is, “There is Now a New Creation”,
  • Maggie will lead us in a prayer for peace, from Iona; a prayer by Liz Gibson
  • Debbie Fallehy will lead us in the September birthday celebration,
  • Kim and select bell ringers will provide special music: “Dona Nobis Pacem”,
  • then Maggie will read James 2:1-10.
  • Rev Ben will preach a sermon, “Radical Equality”,
  • The hymn of response is, “I’m Gonna Eat at the Welcome Table “,
  • Offering,
  • Pat Schwinn will present a Minute for Mission,
  • We will celebrate communion and the Lord’s Prayer,
  • The hymn for communion is “Just As I Am”,
  • The closing hymn is ““Praise, I Will Praise You, Lord”, and then
  • Maggie will lead us in the Charge and Rev Ben will offer a benediction.
  • Marcia will provide a postlude, “Praise the Lord, Rise Up Rejoicing”, arr. Dale Wood

The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
