The Bear Story Laid Bare

Friends,

In my sermon on Sunday I told a bear story, and I discovered after celebration that a lot of folks have bear stories. So I’m sharing one more bear story here. It’s actually the same story I told, but from a different perspective. This is how my son, William, told the story in a skit he wrote for our MPC@Tahoe Talent/No Talent Show. As William read the narration, several of us acted out the story.

Once upon a time, in a lovely place called Camp Richardson, MPC was having a great Barbeque. All of  the food was being gobbled up, people were lighting, and having a relaxed time. Suddenly somebody screamed “BEAR!”

There was a  fluffy and plump bear. It sat at the picnic table and was looking at the menu. It had so many options, but sadly enough a brave warrior came and shouted these words of wisdom: “GIT!” “SHOO!!” “AAAAAH!!!”

The animal took its food to go.

It ran through a group of volleyball players as they parted and made a clear path, just like the waves did for Moses. The bear was fast, but not fast enough. The warrior wasn’t done yet. Sprinting faster than a Black Friday shopper and yelling louder than Mariah Carrey can sing high, they scared it off.

And they all lived happily ever after.

Photos of the bear and of the “Warrior” are below. Enjoy!

God’s Peace!
