“Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!” (Psalm 98)

MPC is a vibrantly musical congregation that is grounded in tradition, while also embracing music from a wide variety of sources. Our Sunday services use the traditional Reformed order of worship and the Presbyterian hymnal Glory to God. We sing and celebrate traditional church music, while also expanding our horizons to include music from multicultural, world, and contemporary sources.
Our music program is overseen by Director of Music Kim Rankin. The MPC Choir is an all-volunteer ensemble led by the Director of Music. The MPC Choir is open to all church and community members who love to sing. We rehearse on Thursday nights, 7-8:30pm, from September through early June. The choir sings in worship most Sundays. Twice a year, the choir performs major choral works with instrumental ensembles. Recent choral works include Bach’s Cantata No. 140 (“Wachet auf”), Paul Winter’s Missa Gaia, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols, and Joseph Martin’s Rhapsody in Bluegrass.
Instrumentalists from the congregation perform regularly in Sunday Celebration. A handchime ensemble, jazz saxophone trio, rock band, and other groups enliven our acoustically beautiful sanctuary with a diversity of sounds.
Montclair Presbyterian Church is currently accepting applications for the position of Organist/Accompanist. For more information about the position, or to apply, please see the MPC Organist Position Description.
