Celebration Worship Service, September 28th, 2025

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • The prelude will “Prelude on ‘Beecher'” by Jaebon Hwang, with Kim Rankin on the piano
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Sari Kulberg will lead us in the Call to Celebration (World Council of Churches)
  • the opening hymn will be “Called as Partners in Christ’s Service”,
  • next Sari will lead us in the Prayer for Peace (World Council of Churches)
  • then it’s Time with Children
  • Invitations are next
  • The MPC Choir will present an anthem, “The Way of Christ”, by Pepper Choplin
  • next Sari will read from scripture, Luke 16:19-31
  • Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon, “On Giving a Damn”
  • the hymn of response will be, “When the Poor Ones”
  • next is Prayers of the People
  • Pat Schwinn will present a God’s Work in the World on the Peace and Global Witness Offering
  • then the offering plates will be passed,
  • the closing hymn will be “We Are One in the Spirit”
  • we will recite the Charge
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
