In celebration this week:
- The MPC Choir will sing the Gathering Music, “Halle, Halle, Hallelujah!”, a Caribbean traditional song
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Shelley Kelly will lead us in the Opening Response (by David Adam, adapted)
- the opening hymn will be “I the Lord of Sea and Sky”,
- next Shelley will lead us in the Prayer for Peace (using a prayer by George MacLeod, Founder of the Iona community)
- then it’s Time with Children, today our youth will commit to the “Confirm not Conform” cohort
- then we will sing a Commitment Response, “Take, O Take Me as I Am”
- Invitations are next
- The MPC Choir will present an anthem, “Bonse Aba”, a Zambian traditional, arr. Victor C. Johnson
- next Shelley will read from scripture, Luke 16:1-13
- Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon, “Start Small”
- the hymn of response will be, “Will You Come and Follow Me”
- next is Prayers of the People
- then the offering plates will be passed,
- the closing hymn will be “Great is Thy Faithfulness”
- we will recite the Charge
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
