In celebration this week:
- The prelude is “Brethren, We Have met to Worship” (a shape-note tune, arr. Heather Sorensen), played by Kim Rankin
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Susan Spore will lead us in a Call to Celebration (using the Celtic Rune of Hospitality, a liturgy from Christ Church, West Didsbury, Manchester, England)
- the opening hymn will be “Part of the Family”,
- next is the Prayer for Peace (adapted from a liturgy of Christ Church, West Didsbury, Manchester, England)
- then Time with Children
- Invitations are next
- there will be a Special Music performance of “Give Yourself to Love” by Kate Wolf
- followed by the Scripture reading from Luke 8:26-39
- Ben’s sermon is next, titled “Good News From Strange People”
- the hymn of response is “Jesus Calls Us”
- there will be a pastoral prayer
- then the offering plates will be passed
- the closing hymn will be “Go to the World”
- we will recite the Charge
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude, “Summertime” (by George Gershwin)
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
