Celebration Worship Service, May 18th, 2025

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • The prelude is “All Creatures of Our God and King”, a 17th c. German chorale tune, arr. Deanna Witkowski and performed by Kim Rankin on piano and John Ingle on soprano saxophone
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Cynthia Blumgart will lead us in a Call to Celebration (adapted from a third Century Prayer)
  • the opening hymn will be “All Creatures of Our God and King”, verses 1-3
  • next Cynthia will lead us in a Prayer of Peace (World Council of Churches)
  • Invitations are next
  • Time With Children will be a performance by the MPC Choir, directed by Kim Rankin, singing “Canticle of Brother Sun” from Missa Gaia (1982); by Paul Winter
  • Cynthia will read from the scriptures, Job 12:7-10
  • Kim will offer a reflection
  • the MPC Choir will perform “Kyrie” from Missa Gaia
  • Cynthia will read from the scriptures again, Psalm 104:24-34
  • there will be another reflection
  • the choir will perform “Sanctus and Benedictus” and “Agnus Dei” from Missa Gaia
  • there will be a pastoral prayer
  • then the offering plates will be passed, the offertory will be “For the Earth Forever Turning” from Missa Gaia
  • we will recite the Charge
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude, “Let Us Depart In Peace” (Canticle of Brother Sun reprise) from Missa Gaia


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
