In celebration this week:
- The prelude is “All Creatures of Our God and King”, a 17th c. German chorale tune, arr. Deanna Witkowski and performed by Kim Rankin on piano and John Ingle on soprano saxophone
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Cynthia Blumgart will lead us in a Call to Celebration (adapted from a third Century Prayer)
- the opening hymn will be “All Creatures of Our God and King”, verses 1-3
- next Cynthia will lead us in a Prayer of Peace (World Council of Churches)
- Invitations are next
- Time With Children will be a performance by the MPC Choir, directed by Kim Rankin, singing “Canticle of Brother Sun” from Missa Gaia (1982); by Paul Winter
- Cynthia will read from the scriptures, Job 12:7-10
- Kim will offer a reflection
- the MPC Choir will perform “Kyrie” from Missa Gaia
- Cynthia will read from the scriptures again, Psalm 104:24-34
- there will be another reflection
- the choir will perform “Sanctus and Benedictus” and “Agnus Dei” from Missa Gaia
- there will be a pastoral prayer
- then the offering plates will be passed, the offertory will be “For the Earth Forever Turning” from Missa Gaia
- we will recite the Charge
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude, “Let Us Depart In Peace” (Canticle of Brother Sun reprise) from Missa Gaia
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
