In celebration this week:
- Kim Rankin will lead us in gathering music, “Give Light” by Greg Artzner (words in bulletin and in Zoom)
- Rev. Ben Daniel will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Martha Smith will lead us in a Call to Celebration (by Rev. Ruth Garwood, United Church of Christ)
- the opening hymn will be “Lord, Who Throughout these Forty Days”
- next Martha will lead us in a Prayer of Confession (PC(USA) Book of Common Worship)
- then it’s Time with Children
- Invitations are next
- Kim will direct the MPC Choir in singing “I Chose Love”, words by Lindy Thompson; music by Mark Miller
- Martha will read from the scriptures, Psalm 27
- Katie Kilby will offer a sermon
- the Hymn of Response will be “Come to Me, O Weary Traveler”
- a pastoral prayer is next
- the offering plates will be passed, offertory is “The Quiet Heart” by John Ness Beck
- the closing hymn will be “May the God of Hope Go With Us”
- we will recite the Charge
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
