- Marcia Roy will play a prelude, Prelude on the Welsh Tune “Hyfrydol”, arr. Richard Warner
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Doug Brookes will lead us in a Call to Celebration (from Iona, adapted)
- the opening hymn will be “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”
- next Doug will lead us in a Litany of Confession and Reconciliation (from Iona, adapted)
- then it’s Time with Children, when James Bell will be baptized
- Invitations are next
- Kim Rankin will lead the MPC Choir in singing “Beloved, Let Us Love One Another”, by Pepper Choplin
- Doug will read from the scriptures, Luke 6:27-36
- Rev. Ben will offer a sermon, “No Need to Have an Enemy”
- the Hymn of Response will be “Though I May Speak”
- a Pastoral Prayer will be offered
- next, Art Paull and La Hkwang will offer a God’s Work in the World
- then the offering plates will be passed, while an offertory is played, “Les Baricades Mysterieuses” by Francois Couperin (1668-1733)
- the closing hymn will be “God Be the Love to Search and Keep Me”
- we will recite the Charge
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
