In celebration this week:
- Kim Rankin will play a prelude, “This Little Light of Mine”, traditional, arr. Bradley Sowash
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Kit Land will lead us in an Opening Prayer (adapted from a prayer by Martin Luther King, Jr.)
- the opening hymn will be “Guide My Feet”
- next Kit will lead us in Prayers of Confession and Peace (adapted from the World Council of Churches’ resources for the 2025 week of prayer for Christian unity)
- then it’s Time with Children
- Invitations are next
- the MPC Choir, led by Kim Rankin, will sing “Ain’-a That Good News” traditional spiritual, arr. Victor C. Johnson
- Kit will read from the scriptures, 1 Corinthians 12:1-13
- Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon, “Unity in Days of Division”
- the Hymn of Response will be “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”
- the Pastoral Prayer is next,
- then the offering plates will be passed,
- the closing hymn will be “In Christ There is No East or West”
- we will recite the Charge
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude from Marcia Roy
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
