Celebration Worship Service, September 29th, 2024

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • Marcia Roy will provide a prelude
  • Rev. Ben Daniel will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • then Kit Land will lead us in a Call to Celebration (by Rev. Mindi Welton-Mitchell)
  • the opening hymn will be “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah”      
  • next, Kit will lead us in a Prayer for Peace, (by Rev. Thom Shuman, adapted)
  • Time with Children is next (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
  • we will hear invitations after that
  • next the MPC Choir will perform an anthem, “One Step God Leads”, directed by Kim Rankin
  • then Kit will read Numbers 11:4-6, 10-16, 24-29
  • Katie Kilby will offer a sermon
  • then we will sing the hymn of response, “As Pants the Deer for Living Streams”
  • next will be the Pastoral Prayer
  • then Ben will offer a God’s Work in the World to update everyone on the Pastoral Care team’s work
  • the offering plates will be passed while Kim plays an offertory
  • the closing hymn will be “How Firm a Foundation”
  • we will recite the Charge together
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
