In celebration this week:
- Gathering Music will be “Now I Walk in Beauty”, a Navajo (Diné) chant, music by Gregg Smith
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- then Mary Ellen McKey will lead us in a Call to Celebration (from Iona)
- the opening hymn will be “For the Beauty of the Earth”
- next, Mary Ellen will lead us in a Rainbow Litany, (by Kathy Galloway, adapted)
- Time with Children is next (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- we will hear invitations after that
- next the MPC Choir will perform an anthem
- then Mary Ellen will read Psalm19
- Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon, “Making It Make Sense”
- then we will sing the hymn of response, “I Sing the Mighty Power of God”
- next will be the Pastoral Prayer
- the offering plates will be passed while Gail Onion plays the flute
- the closing hymn will be “For the Fruit of All Creation”
- we will recite the Charge together
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
