In celebration this week:
- Marcia will play a prelude, “Prelude on Hyfrydol”, arr. Healey Willan
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- then Shelley Kelly will lead us in a Call to Celebration (excerpted from a prayer by Avery Arden, Binary-Breaking Worship)
- The opening hymn will be “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”
- next, Shelley will lead us in a Prayer for Peace, by Rev. Mak Kneebone, adapted
- Time with Children (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- we will hear invitations after that
- then the MPC Choir will perform “Bonse Aba”, traditional Zambian folk song, arr. Victor C Johnson; Kim Rankin directing
- Shelley will read from Genesis 3:8-15
- Katie Kilby will offer a sermon
- then we will sing the hymn of response, “For Everyone Born”
- there will be a Pastoral Prayer
- the offering plates will be passed
- the closing song will be “Now Go in Joy”
- we will recite the Charge together
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
