In celebration this week:
- Marcia Roy will play a prelude: “Holy Manna”, arr. Sam Batt Owens
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration.
- Steve McKiernan will lead us in the Call to Celebration (Katherine Hawker, adapted)
- The opening hymn will be “All Who Hunger, Gather Gladly”.
- Next, Steve will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (from “A Celtic Lorica” by Maureen Killoran, adapted),
- then we will have a Time with Children.
- Invitations are next.
- The MPC Choir will perform “Give Me Jesus”, an African-American spiritual, arr. Lloyd Larson, directed by Kim Rankin
- Then Steve will read aloud the scripture reading from Philippians 2:1-13
- Next, Katie will share a sermon,
- The hymn of response will be “He Came Down”
- The offering plates will be passed while Kim plays an offertory.
- Next, we will celebrate communion with Rev. Riana Shaw Robinson, while Marcia plays an offertory.
- The closing hymn will be “We Will Walk with God” (Sizohamba Naye),
- We will recite the Charge together,
- Katie will offer a benediction
- followed by a postlude from Kim
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
