In celebration this week:
- Marcia Roy will play a prelude: “Hymn to Joy” by Ludwig van Beethoven
- Katie will welcome everyone to Celebration.
- Sally Cole-White will lead us in the Call to Celebration (Rev. Raymond Hearn)
- The opening hymn will be “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”.
- Next, Sally will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (from Peace Prayer, attributed to Saint Francis, adapted),
- then we will have a Time with Children.
- Invitations are next.
- The MPC Choir will perform “A Place at the Table” by Mary MacDonald, directed by Kim Rankin
- Then Sally will read aloud the scripture reading from Philippians 1:18b-30
- Next, Katie will share a sermon,
- The hymn of response will be “God be the Love to Search and Keep Me”
- There will be a pastoral prayer next, then
- The offering plates will be passed while Kim plays an offertory.
- The closing hymn will be “You Shall Go Out with Joy”,
- We will recite the Charge,
- Katie will offer a benediction
- followed by a postlude from Marcia
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
