Celebration Worship Service, March 8th, 2026

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • There will be a prelude from Kim Rankin,
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Cheryl Geckeler will lead the Opening Prayer, (from Iona)
  • the opening hymn will be “Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above”,
  • next Cheryl will lead us in a Universal Prayer for Peace
  • Time with Children follows,
  • Invitations are next
  • the MPC Choir will perform “There is More Love Somewhere”, traditional spiritual, arr. Adam and Matt Podd, Kim Rankin directing
  • next Cheryl will read from Romans 5: 1-5
  • then Ben will offer a sermon,
  • the Hymn of Response will be “Standing on the Promises”,
  • Prayers of the People are next
  • then a God’s Work in the World from Ashraf Jaraysa about olive wood
  • followed by passing the offering plates,
  • the closing hymn will be “How Firm a Foundation”,
  • we will recite the Charge together
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
