In celebration this week:
- There will be an prelude from Kim Rankin, “February Sea”, from “Winter into Spring” by George Winston
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Kit Land will lead the Call to Celebration
- the opening hymn will be “Christ is Made the Sure Foundation”,
- next Kit will lead us in a Prayer of Confession (using a prayer from St. Martins-in-the-Field)
- Time with Children follows,
- Invitations are next
- the MPC Choir will perform “The Way of Christ”, by Pepper Choplin, Kim Rankin directing
- next Kit will read from Matthew 4:1-11
- then Ben will offer a sermon,
- the Hymn of Response will be “When We Are Tested”,
- then Prayers of the People ,
- followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory is “Reflection” from Winter into Spring” by George Winston
- the closing hymn will be “Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days”,
- we will recite the Charge together
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
