Celebration Worship Service, February 22nd, 2026

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • There will be an prelude from Kim Rankin, “February Sea”, from “Winter into Spring” by George Winston
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Kit Land will lead the Call to Celebration
  • the opening hymn will be “Christ is Made the Sure Foundation”,
  • next Kit will lead us in a Prayer of Confession (using a prayer from St. Martins-in-the-Field)
  • Time with Children follows,
  • Invitations are next
  • the MPC Choir will perform “The Way of Christ”, by Pepper Choplin, Kim Rankin directing
  • next Kit will read from Matthew 4:1-11
  • then Ben will offer a sermon,
  • the Hymn of Response will be “When We Are Tested”,
  • then Prayers of the People ,
  • followed by passing the offering plates; the offertory is “Reflection” from Winter into Spring” by George Winston
  • the closing hymn will be “Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days”,
  • we will recite the Charge together
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
