Celebration Worship Service, January 18th, 2026

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • There will be a prelude from Mane Musica, Gaude virgo, by Josquin Desprez
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Saralinda Jackson will lead the Call to Celebration (from Iona, adapted)
  • the opening hymn will be “Lift Every Voice and Sing”,
  • next Saralinda will lead us in a Litany of Peace (based on quotes by Bayard Rustin)
  • Time with Children follows,
  • Invitations are next
  • Mane Musica will perform Sancta et immaculata, by Cristobal de Morales
  • next Saralinda will read from Psalm 40
  • then Ben will offer a sermon, “Waiting Patiently (or not so much)”,
  • the Hymn of Response will be “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”,
  • followed by Prayers of the People
  • then the offering plates will be passed, while Mane Musica plays an offertory, Ave Maria. . . . benedicta tu by Josquin Desprez
  • the closing hymn will be “God of Grace and God of Glory”,
  • we will recite the Charge
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude, Magnificat (excerpts) by Isabella Leonarda


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
