In celebration this week:
- The prelude is “This Little Light of Mine” (traditional, arr. Bradley Sowash), played by Kim Rankin, piano
- Rev. Ben Daniel will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Karen Ray Gibson will lead us in a Call to Celebration (by Rev. Thom Shuman)
- the opening hymn will be “How Firm a Foundation”,
- next Karen will lead us in the Prayer of Confession (United Church of Christ, adapted)
- Invitations are next
- then it’s Time with Children
- Special Music will be performed by Voci Women’s Choir singing “Jerusalem” (traditional Irish, arr. Michael McGlynn)
- followed by Karen reading from the Scriptures, from Exodus 24:12-18 and Hebrews 11:29-12:2
- Katie Kilby will preach a sermon,
- the Hymn of Response is “Lead On, O Cloud of Presence”
- Prayers of the People will be next
- then the offering plates will be passed, and Voci will sing “This We Know” (words attributed to Chief Seattle; music by Ron Jeffers)
- the closing hymn will be “Jesus, Light of Joy”
- we will recite the Charge
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
