Celebration Worship Service, August 3rd, 2025

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • The gathering music is “All Praise to Thee, My God, This Night” (music by Thomas Tallis), MPC Handchime Ensemble
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Cynthia Blumgart will lead us in a Call to Celebration (Church of Scotland, adapted)
  • the opening hymn will be “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”,
  • next Cynthia will lead us in the Prayer of Confession (Church of Scotland)
  • August birthdays will be celebrated
  • then it’s Time with Children
  • Invitations are next
  • Special Music will be “Lovely Evening” (traditional German canon, arr. Sandra Eithun),
  • followed by Cynthia reading from the Scriptures, from Ecclesiastes 1
  • Rev. Ben Daniel will preach a sermon, “Holy Contrarian”
  • the Hymn of Response is “Faith Begins by Letting Go”
  • then the offering plates will be passed,
  • after which we will celebrate communion together
  • the closing hymn will be “All Praise to Thee, My God, This Night”
  • we will recite the Charge
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
