Celebration Worship Service, June 8th, 2025

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • The prelude is “Confirma hoc Deus”” (Confirm this, O God, by G. Palestrina), played by Mane Musica
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Sally Cole-White will lead us in a Call to Celebration (based on Psalm 104, by Rev. Michelle Torigian, United Church of Christ)
  • the opening hymn will be “Come Down, O Love Divine”,
  • next Sally will lead us in a Prayer of Confession (by Rev. Beth Merrill Neel, PC (USA))
  • Time With Children will follow
  • Invitations are next
  • then Special Music, “Repleti sunt omnes” (All were filled with the Holy Spirit, by D. Phinot)
  • Sally will read from the scriptures, first John 14:25-27 then Acts 2:1-21
  • Katie will preach a sermon
  • the Hymn of Response will be “Breathe on Me, Breath of God”
  • next will be Prayers of the People
  • then the offering plates will be passed, the offertory will be “Loquebantur variis linguis” (They spoke in many languages, by D. Palestrina)
  • the Closing Hymn will be “Go to the World”
  • we will recite the Charge
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude, “Amen, amen dico vobis” (Truly, truly I say to you, by P. Dulichius)


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
