Celebration Worship Service, June 1st, 2025

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • The prelude is “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” (arr. Alice Jordan), played by Marcia Roy on the organ
  • Rev. Ben Daniel will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Bonnie Hamlin will lead us in a Call to Celebration (adapted from a World Council of Churches prayer)
  • the opening hymn will be “My Life Flows On”,
  • next Bonnie will lead us in a Prayer of Confession (World Council of Churches, adapted)
  • Debbie Fallehy will lead us in celebrating June birthdays
  • Time With Children will follow
  • Invitations are next
  • the MPC Choir will perform “Over My Head” traditional spiritual, arr. Adam and Matt Podd, Kim Rankin directing
  • Bonnie will read from the scriptures, Acts 16:16-34
  • Ben will preach a sermon, “Good Trouble”
  • the Hymn of Response will be “Standing on the Promises”
  • next is a God’s Work in the World, from Pat Schwinn about the Pentecost offering
  • then the offering plates will be passed, the offertory will be “Arise, My Soul, Arise”

  • the Closing Hymn will be “Siyahamba”
  • we will recite the Charge
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
