- Marcia Roy will play a prelude, “Thine is the Glory”, by G.F. Handel, arr. Richard Warner
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Mary Ellen McKey will lead us in a Call to Celebration (from Iona)
- the opening hymn will be “Crown Him With Many Crowns”
- next Mary Ellen will lead us in a Litany of Peace (from Iona, adapted)
- then it’s Time with Children
- Invitations are next
- The MPC Choir, directed by Kim Rankin, will sing an anthem, “Canticle of Brother Sun” from Missa Gaia (1982); text from St. Francis of Assisi, the Book of Job, and F. S. Pierpont; music by Jim Scott and Paul Winter
- Mary Ellen will read from the scriptures, Revelation 7:9-17
- Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon, “A Global Faith”
- the Hymn of Response will be “This Is My Song”
- a pastoral prayer will follow
- then the offering plates will be passed, the offertory will be “Der Tag, der ist so freudenreich” (The Day is Full of Joy) by J.S. Bach, arr. Constant Lambert
- the closing hymn will be “We Shall Overcome”
- we will recite the Charge
- there will be a benediction followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
