Celebration Worship Service, May 4th, 2025

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

  • The prelude will be “Morning Has Broken”, a traditional Irish melody, arranged by Brant Adams and performed today by Sally Cole-White on alto sax, Kim Rankin on piano, and Linda Spencer on the bass
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Stephen Warren will lead us in a Call to Celebration (Rev. Thom Shuman, adapted)
  • the opening hymn will be “Morning Has Broken”
  • next Stephen will lead us in a Prayer of Reconciliation (United Church of Christ)
  • Debbie Fallehy will lead a celebration of April birthdays
  • then it’s Time with Children
  • Invitations are next
  • Special music is “Wonderful Grace of Jesus” by Halldor Lillenas, arr. Ed Hogan
  • Stephen will read from the scriptures, John 21:1-19
  • Katie will offer a sermon,
  • the Hymn of Response will be “Rise, O Church, Like Christ Arisen”
  • Next, is a God’s Work in the World from Art Paull and Susan ten Bosch-Paull
  • the offering plates will be passed
  • we will celebrate communion with Rev. Rianna Shaw-Robinson presiding
  • the closing hymn will be “That Easter Day with Joy Was Bright”
  • we will recite the Charge
  • there will be a benediction
  • the postlude is “I Will Sing of My Redeemer” by James McGranahan, arr. Ed Hogan


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
