Celebration Worship Service, March 30th, 2025

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • Marcia Roy will play the prelude, “Lighten the Darkness” hymn tune by Orlando Gibbons, setting by Healey Willan
  • Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • Sari Kulberg will lead us in a Call to Celebration (Ethiopian Orthodox, adapted)
  • the opening hymn will be “Longing for Light, We Wait in the Darkness”
  • next Sari will lead us in a Prayer of Confession and Reconciliation (using a 9th century prayer attributed to St. Dionysus)
  • then it’s Time with Children
  • Invitations are next
  • Kim will direct the MPC Choir in singing “Jesus is a Rock in a Weary Land” a traditional spiritual, arr. Glenn Burleigh
  • Sari will read from the scriptures, Luke 15
  • Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon, “What About Sinners?”
  • the Hymn of Response will be “Just As I Am”
  • a pastoral prayer is next
  • the offering plates will be passed
  • the closing hymn will be “There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy”
  • we will recite the Charge
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
