The Oakland Gay Men’s Chorus (OaklandGMC) invites you to “Make the Yuletide Gay!” at their annual holiday concert at Montclair Presbyterian Church on Friday, December 13th at 7:30pm. Following a milestone 25th anniversary season, OaklandGMC continues to uplift the Bay Area community with joyful performances and a renewed dedication to creating a welcoming space for all.
Having grown to over 90 members, the Chorus remains steadfast in its mission to “give voice through song to a community where everyone matters.” This lively 90-minute, two-act concert, led by Artistic Director Dr. Ben Riggs, is filled with holiday favorites and fresh arrangements designed to inspire, delight, and bring people together. “One of my favorite songs in this concert is ‘This Holiday,’ which encourages us to ‘Spread joy, be at peace, and share the love,’” Riggs shared. “That message captures the true spirit of OaklandGMC.”
Featuring beloved carols and diverse songs from cultures around the world, this year’s concert also includes a few signature pieces from Dr. Riggs’ first season with the Chorus in 2019, including the cherished “Sure on This Shining Night” and a memorable rendition of “Silver Bells.”
Gathering toys and books
In the spirit of giving, OaklandGMC is partnering with Marine Corps Toys for Tots, Alameda County CA, at each performance, collecting unwrapped books and toys for ages 12–18 to support local families this holiday season.
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a gift to share.
