In celebration this week:
- Marcia Roy will provide a prelude, “Praise the Lord, Rise Up Rejoicing”, arr. Dale Wood
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Then Deborah Brooks will lead us in a Call to Celebration (using a Haitian prayer)
- The opening hymn will be “Arise, Your Light Is Come”
- Next, Deborah will lead us in a Prayer for a Better Future, (from the Haitian Methodist Church)
- Time with Children is next (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- We will hear invitations after that
- Next the MPC Choir will perform an anthem, “How Lovely Are the Messengers”, directed by Kim Rankin
- Then Deborah will read Mark 8:27-38
- Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon, “Humility, Hope Peace”
- Then we will sing the hymn of response, “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace”
- Next will be the Pastoral Prayer
- The offering plates will be passed while Kim plays an offertory
- The closing hymn will be “Dona Nobis Pacem”
- We will recite the Charge together
- There will be a benediction
- Followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
